veroHi, my name is Veronica Chong and I am a PALMS volunteer.  I will be working with FPET in Atabae on programs to help improve the livelihood of the local community.

I am a social worker with post-graduate studies in developmental psychiatry.  I have worked in Singapore, UK and in rural and remote Victoria and WA in the areas of community development, public health and children and families with disabilities. More recently I have been working with child and adolescent mental health services.

As a social worker, the core values and goals are about empowering the individual, families/parents and communities.  I hope that my skills will be shared with the Timorese, continuing the good work from previous volunteers and further the development of the community. I am looking forward to rich cultural exchanges and taking my skills to another level.

Thanks to the strong and positive friendship that has been forged with the Atabae community I am excited about this opportunity and the challenges that are ahead.  I would like to ask for your prayers, and support to continue FPET’s efforts in building a sustainable future for the Timorese.
