FPET has supported English language classes in Atabae since 2011 when experienced teacher, Anne Chapman, volunteered. She started with three local assistants who were tutored on the job.

This team with help from other FPET supported volunteers have continued the great work. Class numbers have continued to grow and there are now more than 150 students enrolled.

The local community is very supportive of the English classes and age is no barrier to attendance. There has also been interest in basic computer skills training. These skills are valued as a prerequisite for many jobs in Dili.

FPET looks forward to Veronica continuing the education program and guiding its future direction.
