YOUTH

This page recognises the importance of youth issues and activities in the relationships between the East Timorese and Australians. Youth from both countries have been very active in helping FPET members build relationships with the people of Atabae and more generally with the East Timorese, including those studying in Queensland.

Sam Hodge with the locals at Atabae

Joel Hodge has been back to East Timor a number of times in relation to his post graduate studies which have related to East Timor. Early in 2008 he was accompanied by his brother Sam who greatly enjoyed mixing with and getting to know the young people in Atabae. Sam expects to make further trips to Atabae.
The next young visitors from Atabae have been Jose, Maria and Lepa (pictured below) who have come to Brisbane and World Youth Day in Sydney.
